WARNING: SPOILER FOR FIFTY SHADES OF GREY & FIFTY SHADES DARKER
So, the last chapter of Fifty Shades of Secrets really explained a lot of the entire story and what events lead to the change of the storyline from Fifty Shades Darker. If you've read my other AU stories (especially A Twist in My Story), you know that I love the idea that small choices change things completely. I used that theory in Fifty Shades of Secrets, and with the post of this chapter, I feel like I can finally explain it all to you!
Let's begin with the events at the end of FSoG. Anastasia left Christian and went into a dark depression where she hardly ate, etc. In Fifty Shades Darker, Anastasia admitted to Dr. Green that she forgot to take her birth control to which Dr. Green responded that she could be pregnant. Ana was administered the birth control shot, preventing her from conceiving.
In Fifty Shades of Secrets, Hyde attacked Ana before she could go to Jose's show with Christian and reconcile with him. She ran away to Ray, meaning that she never saw Christian or Dr. Green to get the shot. Unlike in Fifty Shades Darker, Anastasia concieved Theodore when she didn't take the birth control pill, but she did not learn about it until she'd already left Seattle.
We now move on to the most commonly asked question. Why would Anastasia hide Theodore?
While it was definitely a mistake, Anastasia is known for avoiding conflict especially with Christian Grey. Once she found out she was pregnant, she'd already run away, and it was easier to just hide on the east coast and avoid the confrontation with Christian. Plus, we must remember that at the end of Fifty Shades of Grey, Anastasia didn't have a very high opinion of him. She didn't think he was capable of a loving relationship, and this could have influenced her decision.
